This doesn’t have to be CSS embedded in the SVG itself, it can be anywhere, even in our global stylesheet ed up. Now in any CSS on this page we can control those individual elements with special SVG CSS. We can jump into the code and give them class names, just like any other HTML element can have. In our design, we have two elements that make up the design, an and an. See how the SVG looks a lot like HTML? That’s because they are both essentially XML (named tags with angle brackets with stuff inside). If you’re even more hardcore, here is a Node JS tool for doing it yourself. In Kyle Foster’s video, he even takes it the extra mile and removes line breaks after this optimization. SVG is already pretty small, but why not do all we can? Peter Collingridge has an online SVG Optimiser tool. It has a DOCTYPE and generator notes and all that junk. Likely not a huge shocker, but the SVG that Adobe Illustrator gives you isn’t particularly optimized. Specifically because SVG sometimes is exported with that as the opening line, which will cause the PHP parser to choke on it. Like: Ī little PHP-specific thing here… it was demonstrated to me that file_get_contents() is the correct function here, not include() or include_once() as I have used before. If you’re using a back end language that can go fetch the file and insert it, at least you can clean up the authoring experience. A potentially “bloated” document, a big chunk of crap right in the document you’re trying to author, and inability to cache. In other words, it has the same advantages as using a Data URI. This can be nice because the image comes over right in the document and doesn’t need to make an additional HTTP request. Remember how you can grab the SVG code right from Illustrator while saving if you want? (You can also just open the SVG file in a text editor and grab that code.) You can drop that code right into an HTML document and the SVG image will show up just the same as if you put it in an img. Is that you don’t get to control the innards of the SVG with CSS like you can with the following two ways. One way is to test for support with Modernizr and swap out the src of the image: if (!Modernizr.svg) The problem with both and background-image… I’ve covered different techniques in different workshops I’ve done. If you’d like to use SVG, but also need to support these browsers that don’t support using SVG in this way, you have options. Essentially: it works everywhere except IE 8 and down and Android 2.3 and down. Using it this way has its own set of specific browser support. Here’s an example of that: Check out this Pen! Browser support You can change the size of it though just by selecting the img and changing its width or height, again like you could a PNG or JPG. That’s exactly how big the image will on the page, left to itself. In Illustrator, our artboard was 612px ✕ 502px. If I save the SVG to a file, I can use it directly in an tag. The interesting part here is that you can either press OK and save the file, or press “SVG Code…” and it will open TextEdit (on a Mac anyway) with the SVG code in it. I honestly don’t know much about all this. You can save the file directly from Adobe Illustrator as an SVG file.Īs you save it, you’ll get another dialog for SVG Options. Canvas matters in SVG just like it would in PNG or JPG. Notice the artboard is cropped up right against the edges of the design.

I do not have exact release dates, only months of reviews by Computer Magazines. One is a real time dungeon crawler, the other is a turn based (althought with combat so simplified it could just as well have been real time) open world game. Beholder is all about making choices - choices that matter What will you do with the information you collect Will you report the suspicious activities of a father and orphan his children Or. MM3 is a better game IMO (or has at least aged much better), but it suffered from a disappointingly simplified combat system compared to the more tactical combat in MM1-2.īut it's hard to compare the two games directly. But in EoB you are forced to use the "two step dance" even againts Kobolds.ĮoB was definitely not considered "meh" when released, but was IIRC a greater financial success for SSI than their turn based Gold Box games were. In turn based AD&D game your armoured fighters can go toe-to-toe with low level enemies with not much risk of being hit. Its about a man trying to figure out the story behind his fathers. But trying to replay it some years ago, I realized that shoehorning the AD&D system into a DM clone was not a good idea, and the combat didn't feel right. Beholder 2 is a point and click adventure game set in the reality of an authoritarian state. I liked EoB back then, although it was in most respects a decline compared to Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back, although it had some novelties like more varied dungeon graphics, recruitable NPCs and general NPC interaction. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have been using a Macbook as my daily work computer since 2013 and in my experience the hardware on them works well enough(apart from the keyboard) but if you connect non-Apple hardware to it it might have problems. Not sure why but It seems like a good idea. It really does make me want to upgrade the CPU though, perhaps to a Ryzen 3900x or even a 3950x. In general use when running tests for example the desktop computer is about 25% faster in. It will handle full load on all cores no problem. My desktop computer has a "gaming grade" cooler in it so it runs nice and cool. This is to be expected but it will also do this when running turbo boost on a single core. Upon any kind of realistic load it will hit 100 degrees Celsius and start throttling. Of course, there is only so much you can do with a high performance CPU in such a small body like the Macbook but still, it is quite awful. No more memory bloat, no slow startup, and huge performance improvements. Once you go back to Linux things will improve dramatically. We even tried to move the code to Docker containers as well but that made things even slower. We used to run the same setup in docker at work for our development but the poor performance was finally too much to bear. Not to mention that the docker virtual machine on mac is memory hungry and takes a while to start. We are talking about something like a 50% performance loss when running in Docker containers. Doing this on a mac has some of the benefits but the poor performance is just awful. I don't run the actual code in the Docker container but I guess I should be doing that too. I keep a docker compose file around that launches the containers I need like Postgres, Redis, and so on. I like to use Docker for development, especially for databases. The better solution is to install additional speakers in the center between the other height channels (Top Middle position). This issue is compounded by the fact that the locations where I had installed speakers when I built the home theater (before immersive audio was a concern I gave any thought to) were less than ideal for Atmos.
